We at Coorparoo Presbyterian Church do not claim to have arrived and we do not claim to be perfect, without fault. However, we aspire to be a Church that:
Knows God through Christ our Lord and Saviour
We acknowledge that only by trusting in the death of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins, are we reconciled to our heavenly Father, receiving eternal life and being adopted as his children.
We acknowledge Jesus Christ has made God known to us and by the Holy Spirit, still speaks to us today through his written Word, the Bible. Therefore, strive to bring people into a living relationship with God our Father through faith in Jesus Christ.
We value the Bible as God’s Word, as it contains all we need to train the man of God to lead a Godly life. Therefore, we strife to teach God’s Word clearly and accurately and to learn and apply it to our lives.
Gathers together centred on the Word of God
We gather together to encourage one another and corporately worship God through Jesus Christ, acknowledging his grace to us. We gather to hear his Word and respond in praise and thanksgiving. We gather to express our worship with personal and cultural relevance,
and integrity.
Makes Disciples
Because we have received and experienced God’s great love, and hear his word to us, we desire that others should also come to know his love. By teaching others all that Jesus has commanded us, and loving one another as he has loved us, we aim to build one another up into disciples of Jesus Christ, and equip one another for a life pleasing to our heavenly Father. We aim to communicate the love of Christ in the common language and culture of our time so that we are understandable and relevant.
Cares for one another
His love compels us to exercise care for others, both inside and outside the church, whenever we are in a position to do so. Because we care for others, in all our dealings with others we endeavour to act with integrity and honesty.
Loves one another
As Christ loves us, we are to love one another, bearing with one another, rejoicing with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep. As we grow in Christ, we desire to become more and more other person centred.
Serves one another
As Christ came to serve and not to be served, we also seek to serve others, especially to provide opportunity that they might come to know the grace of God in Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we aim to live our personal lives, and structure our corporate activities for the benefit of others more than for our own personal pleasure or preference.
We value each person as created in God’s image and desire to help them come to know Christ as their Saviour and God as their Father.
We value families as God’s gift to us for the care and nurture of one another, especially of children. Our aim is to support families as they care for and nurture their members, to help them cope with life’s trials, and rejoice in life’s joys as they develop maturity in Christ.
