Who we are
At CPC we’re on about having real life in Jesus, and seeing others have it too. We do this through:
Knowing God through Christ our Lord and Saviour
Mankind is alienated from God, the creator of everything we can see and all we cannot see. Each person has rebelled against submitting to the rule of God over our lives. God has declared a period of amnesty for all who will acknowledge the one he has chosen as his King, Jesus Christ, to rule his creation and submit to his rule. We can be forgiven of our rebellion and our rebellious acts against God and his rule. We can be made right with God by trusting in the death of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. When we acknowledge Jesus as King and submit to his rule, we reconciled to our heavenly Father, receiving eternal life and being adopted as his children.
We acknowledge Jesus Christ has made God known to us. By the Holy Spirit, God still speaks to us today through his written Word, the Bible. Therefore, strive to teach the Bible accurately and truly and apply it to our lives.
Gathering together centred on the Word of God
We gather together to encourage one another and corporately worship God. We do this as we acknowledge his grace to us in sending his Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. We gather to hear his Word and respond in praise and thanksgiving. We gather to express our worship with integrity and personal and cultural relevance.
Because we have received and experienced God’s great love, and hear his word to us, we want to share the real life we have in Jesus Christ with others. By teaching ourselves and others to obey all that Jesus has commanded us, and loving one another as he has loved us, we aim to build one another up into disciples of Jesus Christ. We strive to encourage and equip one another for a life pleasing to our heavenly Father. We aim to communicate the love of Christ in the common language and culture of our time so that we are understandable and relevant.
Caring for one another
His love compels us to exercise care for others, both inside and outside the church, whenever we are in a position to do so. Because we care for others, in all our dealings with others we endeavour to act with integrity and honesty. As we have been forgiven, so we strive to forgive one another and bear with one another.
Loving one another
As Christ loves us, we are to love one another, bearing with one another, rejoicing with those who rejoice and weeping with those who weep. As we grow in Christ, we desire to become more and more other person centred.
Serving one another
As Christ came to serve and not to be served, we also seek to serve others, especially to provide opportunity that they might come to know the grace of God in Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we aim to live our personal lives, and structure our corporate activities for the benefit of others more than for our own personal pleasure or preference.
We value each person as created in God’s image and desire to help them come to know Christ as their Saviour and God as their Father.
We value each person as a human being crated in God’s image. While families are God’s gift to us for the care and nurture of one another, especially of children, we value those who are single and seek to include into our church family. Our aim is to support families as they care for and nurture their members, to help them cope with life’s trials, and rejoice with them in life’s joys.
